On Qualifying day, the tickets are tied to sections and seats (though it seems that some people don't care about that). The Saturday also seemed to be a day where many companies and government agencies gave away tickets. Even my immigration officer upon entry of the country told me that he will be at the race on Saturday.
While Formula One continues with the Pit Stop practice, medical inspection and the third practice session, there are also sessions for Malaysian Super Series and TCR International Series. The main focus however is on the Formula One Qualifying Session which happened an hour later than last year. I guess the strategy was to get the rain out of the way before the qualifying session starts, but it actually came right in the middle of the session and put it on hold for quite some time.
Luckily the rain eased off and the teams were able to continue with the qualifying session and finish it.
A year ago I was stuck on the bus for over 2 hours to get back to the city where it rained even harder with flooded streets. This years combined shuttle/train connection was the better option and brought me back to the city in less than an hour.
